New Marketing Viral Ideas in Retailing Industry
They say that sales people must go where their clients are and these days it seems to be on popular social sites. A lot of people like to spent time playing games on Facebook and the most famous games are Farmville and Mafia Wars. Lot of these people are employees playing these games during working hours. They are extremely easy to learn, don't take too much time, but require frequent participation and social interaction with friends.
This is why retailers have found the social games on Facebook a nice playground to lure most of their customers. Wet Seal, for example, has discovered i-Dressup.
According to TechCrunch "Zinga made a partnership 7-eleven to offer Farmville, Mafia Wars and YoVille-branded items on many of the convenience store's products, including on Slurpee and Big Gulp cups in its 7,000 stores. Consumers will be able to connect back to the social games by using their product redemption codes for limited edition 7-Eleven goods within FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille. This revenue share deal stemmed from the recent launch of Zynga gift cards in 7-11 stores. The campaign will begin on June 1 and will last for six-weeks."
This is the first attempt to tie virtual social activitites with physical consumer goods and a step forward in the marketing strategies.
